In Orissa state, the villagers of Balangir have made a rare discovery to beat Nature’s blistering summer temperatures – a specie of herb that grows along the river banks and streams called Mustaka Root. The root of Mustaka is used for sunstroke due to its ability to maintain a cooling effect on the body. Villagers naturally gravitated to the herb to treat themselves for dehyration, sunburn, dizziness and other reactions related to summer heat, many without knowing its use in Ayurvedic medicines.
