Ayurveda & EMF
Dr. Doug Beech, a licensed chiropractor, has studied Ayurveda for about 20 years and explained that the 5,000-year-old system of medicine looks at the subtle energies of the body.EMF toxins were not as prevalent 5,000 years ago, or in remote villages of India, but they were recognized, Beech said. The monsoons would bring months of lightning, which gave the people anxiety, depression, insomnia and irregular menstrual cycles. They called the toxin Indra Vajra Abhinjaya Visha, which means the Poison of Indra’s (king of the gods) Thunderbolt. “Our body is very, very sensitive to electromagnetics.” The body is made of 70 percent water, and cells are made of 97 percent water and 3 percent salt. We are, in a sense, electrical systems ourselves. “EMR aggravates agni (solar, heating energy), creates more inflammation, more acidity,” he said, noting most diseases are rooted in inflammation. “EMF increases marut,” or the flow within etheric space. He also warned of electrical wires and cell phones in the bedroom, and especially near the bed, because so much time is spent in bed. He recommended unplugging everything every night, or, better yet, avoiding electronics in the bedroom altogether. He said to use plants in the bedroom instead, which absorb and counteract EMF because of their grounding, soma nature. Western medicine also recognizes that over-exposure to EMF increases the risk for breast cancer, childhood leukemia, endocrine imbalance and DNA damage.Beech recommends a holistic treatment that includes proper diet and a daily routine, along with Transdermal Marma Therapy, which directly cleans the nadis. The channels are accessed through points on the body called marma, on which herbal creams and essential oils are massaged in specific patterns, usually while chanting a mantra. He said patients have come to him with panic attacks and rapid heart rates who are calmed immediately following a Marma treatment, which he gives in his offices in Frederick and Bethesda. www.FrederickNewsPost.com (May 27, 2010)
